Natalie Frances Koetsch, 89, of Enfield, beloved wife of Wallace James Koetsch, entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, November 1, 2017
Natalie, daughter of the late Salvatore “Samuel” and Genoveffa “Jennie” (Scavotto) Nuccio, was born in Enfield on October 10, 1928. She graduated from Enfield High School in 1946 and from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. After marrying Wally in January of 1951, she worked as a nurse in Camp Pickett, VA, where Wally was stationed in the Army. Upon returning to Enfield, she worked as a neonatal nurse at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MA. From 1958-1975 she was a nurse for Dr. Howard Gourlie in Enfield.
Besides her loving and devoted husband, Wally, she is survived by her daughter Lynne Sarno and her husband Michael, and her daughter Diane Harrison and her husband, Gary, all of Suffield CT. She also leaves three grandchildren, Jennifer Curcuru and her husband Brad of Gloucester, MA, Benjamin Sarno of New York, NY, and Daniel Harrison, of Salem, MA, a great grandson, Carter Curcuru ,a sister, Michelene Love and her husband Andrew of Suffield, and a sister-in-law, Sandra Nuccio of Enfield, as well as several dear nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Jennie and Samuel Nuccio, and a brother, Dr. Carmen S. Nuccio.
Natalie cherished every moment she could spend with her grandchildren and great grandchild. In addition to being a dedicated nurse throughout her career, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and loved to make afghans as gifts for everyone in her family.
We are very grateful to all of the very special staff at St. Joseph’s Residence for their loving care and compassion, treating Natalie with dignity and respect. From the Sisters, the nurses, the aides, the social worker Joan Nielsen, activity director, housekeeping and dining staff, all treated Natalie as if she was a member of their own family.
